About Me

My photo
My husband and I have two children. One of each brand. Cailyn is 3 and William is almost 2. I spend my days cleaning up messes, playing dress-up, prince and princess, and hopefully doing my children a service by teaching them some manners and virtues.

Awkward Photos

I didn't meet Steven under unusual circumstances. I met him at my best friend's wedding. That's the God's honest truth. I was the maid of honor and Steven was a groomsman. I remember the day very vividly. I had started a new internship and was pretty excited about it. On this day I was working with the Finance Director (i.e. fundraiser) and she asked me to drop her off at a dealership on my way to Norman, where the wedding was taking place. I didn't think anything of it so I said yes. As luck would have it we got a late start and traffic was backed up. I should have just taken the entire day off but having just started the internship I didn't want to ask for days away already. I needed to impress. So I took her to her car and started off to Norman. It rained. And rained. It wasn't a sprinkle or a shower; it was RAIN. I finally made my way to the rehearsal about 20 minutes late. Yes I'm the worst maid of honor in bridal history. Sue me. (I'd rather you not.) As I was approaching the altar that was in the club level of the OU football stadium, everyone turned to look at the shabby, damp "worst maid of honor in history". Atleast it felt that way. As I approached the wedding party to take my place next to the bride I saw the most handsome guy I had ever laid eyes on. I remember it as a movie scene where the guy sees his dream date at prom and he's approaching her in slow motion as REO Speedwagon blairs in the background. Except this wasn't prom (yet) and there was no REO Speedwagon blairing in the background. I knew I had to meet this guy and fortunately for me I would at rehearsal dinner. I eventually introduced myself to Steven and was tickled that I knew his name and he spoke to me. The night went on as planned and we had dinner, toasts and drinks. Everyone made their way back to the hotel. A hotel which made history in my life. It's where I got to talk to Steven, drink and socialize. For me this setting was my utopia. I said all of that to show you this. Steven doesn't agree with me that it was love at first sight. For me it was. And I think this picture tells it all.

We realized that a local highschool was having their prom at the same hotel. We took advantage of the backdrop and props. I guess this was sort of like our first date. Prom. The only thing missing was REO Speedwagon.
