It still eludes me. I haven't quite attained pregnancy glow status yet and I'm not certain I will. Do you remember the days when just a little powder and maybe some mascara was enough to make you presentable to society? Those days for me were probably 10 years ago but still, I don't feel too far off. This morning I was running late for work and decided to bring my make up with me. After all my boss had sent me a message that he wasn't going to make it in due to a freak foot flair up ailment. Thinking that since the boss was out so would most visitors to the office. I was wrong and before the clock hit 9:30 a.m. at least 3 people asked me a variety of questions none of which were flattering.
"Are you feeling ok? Really? You look tired."
"Are you feeling a little sick today? Really....hmmm"
"How are you? You don't look so hot, are you sick?"
I'm not making this stuff up. I wanted to scream "YES! Something IS wrong, I'm PREGNANT and if you had any idea what that feels like you'd leave me alone until I could get my face on for the day." I couldn't eek by with a little concealer and some powder. It just didn't work with these dark circles. I even assured one man I was fine and just didn't have my make up on yet. He said, "No, you have some dark circles, I don't think that's make up." (That's the sound of my stomping heals leaving the room to punch something.) I just smiled and continued with work. I was hopeful at the start of the day people wouldn't say anything but they did. It was just another alarm going off letting me know that time is flying by and I'm only getting older. I seriously thought the pregnancy glow would miraculously show up and protect me from the comments, but I had no such luck. Nothing can save me now except a great concealer, strong foundation and multiple coats of mascara and even that's wishful thinking.
