About Me

My photo
My husband and I have two children. One of each brand. Cailyn is 3 and William is almost 2. I spend my days cleaning up messes, playing dress-up, prince and princess, and hopefully doing my children a service by teaching them some manners and virtues.

Birthdays and I have a history

We have a history going on 26 years. That's so strange to even write. Anyway, I love birthdays and everything about them. I like the celebration of life, the cake, the cookouts, the parties and friends. However my history with remembering a birthday is sketchy. I just don't do well at remembering them. It has taken me a couple of years to remember my husband's birthday. In my defense his birthday comes one day before (or is it after?) one of my really good friend's birthdays.
One of the worst stories in the back of my memory that I have tried to forget but am reminded of every year is the story of my best friend Morgan. We were Juniors in high school and over Christmas break had a scheduled basketball practice. This particular practice happened to fall on Morgan's birthday and I had absolutely no idea. To me it was another day. Practice started as usual with warm ups and shoot around. She seemed to be upset but because I was oblivious I thought she was angry that we had a scheduled practice over Christmas break. In actuality she was upset that I hadn't even acknowledged it was her birthday. Someone ended up carrying in a Reese cup with a candle in celebration. I felt like a huge pile of ---- and the worst friend in history. I'm not sure why Morgan continued to be my best friend but I'm really thankful and glad she did. Morgan, I promise never to miss your birthday again, until next year. Thanks for being friends with a flighty forgetful girl.
Editor's Note: I forgot her birthday again this year but I did make up for it with a funny belated birthday card. Ok, maybe "made up for it" are strong words. I tried to make it right.
