We made it out of Kansas City but not in a couple of hours. It took us 4. And from there we made our way to Chicago where we were able to get a great view of the airport after sitting at our gate for 2 and a half more hours. Then we finally reached our destination, Baltimore, MD, after 7 hours of delays. This was a holiday to remember and I'm pretty sure it could have been a movie script. Our flight back was a direct flight close to 3 hours. The plane was packed and Steven and I got the last two seats. Unfortunately one of those seats (mine) was next to the most obnoxious 12 year old known to man kind and no, I'm not exaggerating. From the moment I sat down he had to tell me exactly what he got for Christmas, why he was in Baltimore for Christmas, who lived in Oklahoma and why. I should have taken it into consideration when Steven asked me 3 times if I wanted the middle seat or the aisle seat. I wasn't paying attention and I paid the price. Rather than act as a buffer Steven just kept laughing at my situation. Finally we got a DVD in and I thought it would end there. It didn't. The kid kept tapping my shoulder showing me the Hawaii quarter and his antique square coin. It doesn't end there. He caught glimpse of the movie and decided to watch it with us. I know this because I couldn't lean far enough over to keep the kids germ laden breath off of my arm. Personal space anyone??? With that all having been said, or typed rather, Steven and I had a great first Christmas together and I loved spending time with his parents and family. Now it's time for a new year and new adventures!
Let me know how your Christmas went! And on a side note, if that kid happens upon this post, our names aren't Mark and Brenda. I'm sorry. I'll make a resolution.
